Melissa May is a former minister turned youth advocate living outside Oklahoma City. She first entered the slam world in 2008 and hasn't had the heart or good sense to leave. Since her first reading, she has competed in numerous team and individual poetry competitions, winning the title of Southwest Shootout Indie Champ in 2010 and having the honor of being a WoWps finalist in 2012.
